ADVANTAGES OF CAD/CAM/CAE
:

CAD/CAM/CAE helps in achieving productivity, improvement in design engineering, manufacturing and analysis. This in turn results in compressed product development cycle due to accurate data flow from design to shop floor, build 3D models for better visualization, incorporating changes in the design stage, interference checks at assembly and component level, analysis and generation of error free production drawing. Creation of die design (core & cavity), manufacturing drawings and automatic creation of tool path for die manufacturing.

There is no loss of information anywhere from design to production. It relieves the designers from routine work and deploys them from creative work.

WHAT IS CAD?

Computer aided designing (CAD) is also extensively used in the design of tools and mainly used in the manufacture of components, and in the drafting and design of all types of components ranging from simple domestic products to complicated aerospace components.
CAD is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or 2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout of products, through strength and dynamic analysis of assemblies to definition of manufacturing methods of components. CAD models are imported to CAM/CAE software’s to generating tool path and analysis purpose respectively.

WHAT IS CAM?

Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) is the use of a wide range of Product Lifecycle Management software tools that assist engineers, machinists, in the manufacture or prototyping of product components. 3D models of components generated in CAD software are used to generate CNC code to drive numerical controlled machine tools. This involves the user in selecting what type of tool, machining process and paths those are to be used.

WHAT IS CAE?
Computer-aided engineering (often referred to as CAE) is the use of information technology for supporting engineers in tasks such as analysis, simulation, design, manufacture, planning, diagnosis and repair. Software tools that have been developed for providing support to these activities are considered CAE tools. CAE tools are being used, for example, to analyze the robustness and performance of components and assemblies. It encompasses simulation, validation and optimization of products and manufacturing tools. In the future, CAE systems will be major providers of information to help support design teams in decision making.
CAE systems can provide support to businesses. This is achieved by the use of reference architectures and their ability to place information views on the business process.
CAE areas covered include:

  • Stress analysis on components and assemblies using FEA(Finite Element Analysis);

  • Thermal and fluid flow analysis Computational fluid dynamics(CFD);

  • Kinematics;

  • Mechanical event simulation (MES).

  • Analysis tools for process simulation for operations such as casting, molding, and die press forming.

  • Optimization of the product or process.
